I provide telehealth counseling sessions to residents of Arizona

I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Arizona and a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina. I have been working with adolescents and their families since 2001 where I started in a boarding school setting. I started my private practice in Sierra Vista, AZ in the spring of 2016.  I am currently doing telehealth sessions with clients that reside in Arizona and will eventually do sessions with clients in North Carolina as well.

I offer quality mental health services customized to the needs of individuals and families. I focus on clients' strengths and help them find solutions that work within their lives so that they are maintainable over time. I provide a compassionate approach to support individuals’ mental health goals.

What services are provided?
  • I provide individual and family sessions. I also do parent coaching without your child in the session. I work with adolescents (ages 14 and up), adults and families. I specialize in EMDR trauma work.
Do you offer marriage/couples counseling?
  • No. I do not do marriage counseling.
What is the cost of a session?
  • The session fee depends on the type of payment. If paying out of pocket, a sliding scale is available to determine the amount. Fees are to be paid in full at time of service. Fees are to be paid through ZELLE or Venmo. I do not accept credit cards. These fees are for a 50 minute counseling session as well as 10 minutes for case note preparation.
What insurance is accepted?
  • I currently accept TRICARE, GEHA, AETNA, United, UMR, AHCCCS (Banner) and HMC Healthworks. I am unable to accept BCBS at this time. If you have a copay, it is due at the time of service.
What to expect?
  • While the ultimate purpose of counseling is to reduce your distress through a process of personal change, there are no guarantees that the treatment provided will be effective or useful. Moreover, the process of counseling usually involves working through tough personal issues that can result in some emotional or psychological pain for the client. Change will sometimes be easy and swift, but it can also be slow and frustrating at times. We will work together toward your counseling goals and will discuss any challenges that may result during this time.
What are the Counselor/Client responsibilities & rights?
  • My responsibility to you includes confidentiality, honesty, knowledge, experience, and ongoing training. I strive to create a supportive environment that allows you to explore areas in which you desire to change. I will make observations and suggestions, provide feedback, and may ask you to do activities outside of session to enhance the change process.
  • Your responsibility as a client includes honesty, openness, willingness, and commitment. You are in charge of your therapy and your life. I believe that the strength of the client-counselor relationship is a major factor in the change process. I hope to work together as a team to meet your needs more effectively.
What are the benefits of telehealth?
  • Telehealth can save you money in gas and allow you to take less time away from work or your family. You will be able to get the support you need from the comfort of your own home. Telehealth allows easier access for rural locations.
How will counseling help me?
  • Counseling allows you to explore your concerns in a private, safe environment with an objective and trained professional. We will talk about what’s going on in your life and look at healthy ways to cope with your struggles.

My children & I have all worked with Sarah. She first started seeing my oldest daughter after a suicide attempt, walked alongside us through a nasty divorce, and has helped me process years of trauma with EMDR. She has been both a safe place and a swift kick in the rear when I've needed it. If you're ready to do the work, Sarah is who you want in your corner.

I was suffering from postpartum depression and trying to navigate familial relationships with not much success. I felt alone, stuck and incredibly unhappy. Sarah gave me the tools I needed to take my emotions back into control, learn what was worth fighting for and what needed to be let go and how to healthily set boundaries for healthy relationships. She helped me to heal over traumatic experiences from my past and dig deep to what gave me my emotional scars in the first place. I truly recommend her to all!

Sarah has helped me transform into a better version of myself. I can trust that Sarah is going to give me the facts and be honest with me, but I can also trust she's going to be comforting and supportive in whatever decision I make. She has taught me so many tools to help me manage my Anxiety and Depression that I use weekly, and it has helped so much.
